Why we need to change

As we celebrate 70 years of the NHS, it’s important to think about how health and social care services will evolve in the future to enable people to live well, stay independent and enjoy life.

Demands on both these services continue to increase, alongside a shortage of key skills to deliver care.

We need to improve the overall health of our population, help to stop people from becoming ill wherever possible, and make sure that everyone in Coventry and Warwickshire has equal access to care.

This is why NHS organisations are working with local councils to meet a ‘triple challenge’ of keeping people healthier, providing high-quality care and making services sustainable.

This is an opportunity to improve people’s experiences of health and social care by making sure they have the services they need, in the right place and at the right time, and only have to tell their story once.

Prevention will be at the centre of everything we do. Through early intervention, we’re aiming to make it easier for everyone to lead healthy lives and stay well for longer.

We are focusing on the following transformational work programmes:

Three other work programmes underpin these and will help enable change: Digital Transformation, Estates and Workforce

Understanding communities will be at the heart of all this work, with local residents being asked to help shape their future health and social care services.

We are holding a ‘Year of Wellbeing’ across Coventry and Warwickshire throughout 2019, focusing on prevention and improving people’s quality of life.

We’ll be posting regular updates to this website and organising events in the community over the coming months. You can also get involved by emailing info@bettercarecovwarks.org.uk, liking ‘Better Health, Better Care, Better Value’ on Facebook, or following the programme on Twitter at @BetterCareCW.
